Event Description

Snowy Mountain Development Corporation (SMDC) has partnered with Kansas State University - Technical Assistance to Brownfields (KSU-TAB), US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and the Montana Business Assistance Connection (MBAC) to bring you this 2-day workshop in Lewistown, Montana.

Cost: $25 per day, cash or check (covers the provided lunch). You may register for either, or both, days. Checks can be made payable to SMDC.

Location: The Yogo Inn, 11 East Main Street, Lewistown, MT 59457.  Free parking is avilable at the hotel for workshop attendees.

Lodging: A block of rooms has been set aside at the Yogo Inn until August 11, 2023.  You must call the hotel directly, (406) 535-8721, and ask for the Brownfields Workshop Room Block (Code # GA307) to get the workshop rate.

Tuesday, September 12, 2023, 10:00 am - 4:30 pm MST, check-in begins at 9:30 am

Day 1: The first day of this workshop is designed to inform anybody new to the Brownfields program and provide a very basic understanding of what is available. Topics will include: Introduction to Brownfields, Introduction to the types of Brownfields Programs, How to Market Projects and Public Outreach, Community Champions, Funding Road Map, and a Walking Tour of local projects.

Wednesday, September 13, 2023, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm MST, check-in begins at 8:00 am

Day 2: The second day of this workshop is to provide knowledge and support for existing and new programs. Topics will include: A Deeper Dive into the EPA Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) for Cleanup Program Terms and Conditions of Cooperative Agreement, How to Get an RLF program Off the Ground, Administration and Fundamentals of the Program, Feasibility of Assessment and Cleanup, Guidance on RLF Loans, Collateral, and Loan Servicing Software Programs, Tax Credits, and Succession Planning.

Who should attend? Local government officials, key community stakeholders, economic and community development organizations, not-for-profit entities, community groups, private citizens, and others working to promote revitalization in Montana communities.
