Currents of Connection
Reimagined image with people outside with buildings and greenspaces

801 Armourdale Pkwy
Kansas City, KS 66105
United States

Currents of Connection reimagines the industrial waterfront of the Armourdale neighborhood on the bank of the Kansas River in Kansas City, Kansas. The design proposes transforming heavy industrial land uses and brownfields into a thriving mixed-use community that serves existing residents and welcomes newcomers. Design strategies aim to strengthen connections, enhance human and environmental health, stimulate economic development, and celebrate cultural vitality. In partnership with government officials and brownfield experts, a class of 18 mid-level landscape architecture students collaborated to create an overall master plan vision and then worked in five teams, each focusing on a unique new district.
