Want to be a part of redeveloping and revitalizing Galveston?

Join Vision Galveston, Galveston Economic Development Partnership, and KSU’s Technical Assistance to Brownfields for this FREE in-person brownfield’s resources workshop!

This workshop is your opportunity to gain invaluable insights and connections to fuel brownfield redevelopment projects in Galveston. Whether you're looking to transform underutilized land or breathe new life into existing infrastructure, this event is designed to equip you with the knowledge and resources you need.

What is a brownfield?

A brownfield is a property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant.

What can you expect?

We’ll do a deep dive into the world of Brownfields redevelopment. We'll start with a clear definition of what constitutes a brownfield site and then explore the landscape of available resources at the local, state, and federal levels. You’ll discover funding opportunities and technical assistance that can help you navigate the complexities of brownfield revitalization. Lastly, we’ll leave plenty of time to discuss specific brownfield sites in Galveston and how to tackle them.

Who should attend?

Local and regional government officials, economic and community development organizations, lenders and real-estate professionals, non-profits, property owners, and anyone interested in learning about brownfields and financial resources for local redevelopment.

Why is KSU involved?

The Kansas State University Technical Assistance to Brownfields (KSU TAB) program empowers communities in 21 states, including Texas, to revitalize brownfield sites through expert guidance and no-cost technical support. We equip communities with the tools and resources needed to stimulate economic and community revitalization through engagement, education, and one-on-one assistance. We also offer nationally accessible online tools to help create site inventories and develop competitive EPA grant proposals.
