Event Information
Ready to roll up your sleeves and revitalize the Heart of Texas?
Join the Heart of Texas Council of Governments (HOTCOG), the Heart of Texas Economic Development District (HOTEDD), and KSU TAB for a crucial in-person workshop!
This free workshop is your opportunity to gain invaluable insights and connections to fuel redevelopment projects in our region. Whether you're looking to transform underutilized land or breathe new life into existing infrastructure, this event is designed to equip you with the knowledge and resources you need.
What can you expect?
The morning session will dive deep into the world of Brownfields redevelopment. We'll start with a clear definition of what constitutes a brownfield site and then explore the landscape of available resources at the local, state, and federal levels. Discover funding opportunities and technical assistance that can help you navigate the complexities of brownfield revitalization.
The afternoon will broaden our scope to encompass a range of other vital state programs and their grant and funding opportunities geared towards community redevelopment. You'll hear directly from representatives of key state agencies, including:
Railroad Commission of Texas: Learn about their role in environmental remediation.
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality: Understand state environmental regulations and resources.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department: Explore opportunities for conservation and outdoor recreation-related development.
Texas Water Development Board: Discover funding for water infrastructure and related projects.
Office of the Governor Economic Development and Tourism: Gain insights into state-level economic development initiatives.
HOTCOG: Learn all about federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requirements that apply to fair housing grant recipients.
To wrap up the day, we'll provide a crucial legislative update relevant to the redevelopment efforts.
And because we know a productive day requires good fuel, HOTEDD is generously providing lunch from the delicious Boris Italian Restaurant!
